Its Strange

Poem about Remembrance Day. Won 1st on two levels and 2 on the next.

It's Strange How We Stand In Silence
For Two Whole Minutes Today.
It's Strange That People Come Up To Speak
Even Though I Don't Listen To What They Say.
It's Strange That We Wear Poppies.
On Our Shirts, Atop Our Hearts.
It's Strange That We All Pay Respect
Even Though I Don't Take Part.
It's Strange We Have To Listen To The Teachers
As They Talk About Who Died.
It's Strange That They Wasted Their Time
I've Started To Decide.

But Then Our Teacher Puts On A Video
About World War Two.
This Video Begins To Scare Me
The Things They Went Through.
So Many People Died
All The Way Across The Sea.
They Gave Up Their Lives
For Disrespectful People Like Me.

It's Strange How I Once Didn't Care
About Our Women And Men.
It's Strange How So Many People
Still Do Not Honour Them.
It's Strange They Think Remembrance Day
Is Such A Waste Of Time.
It's Strange How They Do Not Realize
That Arrogance Crosses The Line.
It's Strange That They Do Not Feel Sorrow
Even Though So Many Cry.
It's Strange That That Today War Is Still Going On
And For Pointless Reasons, People Die.

LOVED THIS POEM! It is strange how we don't stop and think about things, isn't it? Even something as important as this day. I wish I had your gift. To be able to put into words the feelings...
